When it is as much about the journey as the destination, the Patrol is the most versatile splitboard you can find. When we took to the drawing board to design the Patrol we had a few simple goals. Make a splitboard that could take you to new places and make sure that it could perform like a dedicated powder board on the ride down.
In order to achieve this we started with a platform we knew was already the perfect, versatile powder board - the Maverick. We took the geometry we had perfected on the Maverick and began to design the Patrol around it. This has resulted in a board that is capable of riding the resort in the morning and seeking out untracked backcountry lines in the afternoon. The Patrol has a subtle 3mm taper from tip to tail that noticeably improves soft snow performance without sacrificing balance when hiking uphill. A simple 2 inch setback lengthens the nose whilst our Hover Camber profile acts like the hull of a ship, keeping you on top of even the deepest soft snow with ease. Stripping things back and you’ll find a Poplar and Paulownia blended wood core that is lighter than our standard wood core but with a greater strength to weight ratio and better response. This reduces effort on uphill excursions without sacrificing downhill ability. 2 carbon beams are also added into the tail, extending from the waist. This further improves balance and gives plenty of support on even the steepest of hikes. It also helps balance the ride when slashing turns and dropping cliffs.
New for 1819 is our redesigned Smoothride Sidewall. This builds upon our original award winning technology and helps reduce our overall impact on the environment. A more efficient manufacturing process cuts waste without sacrificing the impact and vibration absorbing properties, helping to provide the smoothest ride possible. Fibreglass layups are also enhanced through the use of tri-axial glass that includes a pre-cured layer above the core for more response and torsional rigidity without adding weight. And of course it’s all finished off with the Channel mounting system for infinite stance adjustment.
Looks fun but there is mo more snow to tru it hehe
So far I've only been out on the Patrol Split twice, but overall it's a pretty solid ripper! Fairly stiff compared to my on-piste board but that's to be expected. She turns nice, holds a good edge and is super fun in the spring corn! Only complaints is that the gap between the two halves is slightly larger than most splitties I've seen (even compared to all of my friends boards) and the black on black shows dirt / scratches incredibly easy but hey, these things are meant to get beat up.
I'm 5'10" 173lbs riding a 159
Overall 4/5 and would recommend it to others.
Recently purchased the endeavor splitboard with Karakoram bindings. Once I got the board I switched out the voile tip locks and clips with Karakorams. It not only was better manufacturing, it made the board quieter and ride better. The board has amazing ride feel and is great in Ski mode. Highly recommend this splitboard for any level.
If Al Capone was a splitboarder this is what he'd ride... this board is Gangster!
I always thought that no board good be great in all conditions, but my Patrol Split just proved me wrong. Awesome board in the back country AND at the resort!
